A post-doc position is now open at Instituto Superior Técnico (Lisbon, Portugal) in the framework of project ANIMAR – Automated annotation of images from the surface of Mars, financed by Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT).

The objectives of the work consist in the development of classification algorithms for the detection of structures on the surface of Mars: craters, dunes, dust devil tracks and polygons.

The applicant should have a doctoral degree, preferably within the last 5 years, in the areas of Engineering, Mathematics or similar with significant research work and publications in image analysis, pattern recognition and content based image retrieval.

Application deadline: February 20, 2011.
