1.GSAPS Nomination
Waseda University Graduate School of Asia-Pacific Studies International Relations Program was selected for the International Priority Graduate Program (PGP) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) last year.
The PGP program, which was created by MEXT to support programs which have international appeal to foreign students, provides priority allocation for government financed foreign students. This year there were 162 PGP applications from universities around the country, and 61 programs were selected; only 7 of those were from private universities.
Students should apply for the scholarship at GSAPS. GSAPS selects students and recommend them to the Japanese Government.

2.Embassy Nomination
An embassy recommended, government sponsored international student is a student who applies to receive a government scholarship through the Japanese embassy or consulate in their home country. Please refer to FAQ for MEXT Scholarship.
Students should apply for the scholarship at the Japanese embassy or consulate. The Embassy or consulate select students through document screening, examination and interviews. Please contact the Japanese embassy or consulate for further details.

*There is the government sponsored scholarship for private financed international students who are enrolled as regular degree-seeking students at Waseda University.
Also there is government sponsored scholarship for studying-abroad international students who come from universities that currently have an academic exchange agreement with Waseda University. Please refer to FAQ for MEXT Scholarship.
3.University Nomination
This government sponsored scholarship is for studying-abroad international study abroad students who come from universities that currently have an academic exchange agreement with Waseda University. Please refer to FAQ for MEXT Scholarship.
4.Domestic Selection
This is the government sponsored scholarship for private financed international students who are enrolled as regular degree-seeking students at Waseda University. Please refer to FAQ for MEXT Scholarship. This scholarship will apply only AFTER matriculation.
